Gas & Welding Equipment Safety Compliance

The recurring safety and compliance inspection WeldCo performs on a workshop's GAS AND WELDING EQUIPMENT — on-site across Victoria (Melbourne, Laverton North and greater VIC) or drop-off at the Laverton North branch. What is actually inspected and tested: welding machines (MIG, TIG, stick, multi-process); oxy-fuel equipment — regulators, hoses, blowpipes, mixers and cutting attachments; flashback arrestors and non-return valves; plus electrical test and tag. Methods are visual examination, leak testing at working pressure, and functional checks. The territory is the COMPLIANCE OBLIGATION AND ITS CALENDAR — driven by AS 4839-2001 and AS 4603: - six-monthly: regulator functional tests, hose assemblies checked for cuts and excessive wear - yearly: flashback arrestors, as detailed in AS 4603 — and immediately following any flashback - five years: equipment replacement ceiling - what a workshop must be able to show, what fails an inspection, and what happens between visits Write for the person who owns that obligation: the workshop owner, workshop manager or safety/HSE coordinator whose test is coming due, who has had a flashback, who has been asked for evidence by an auditor, insurer or head contractor, or who has gear of unknown age. The buying trigger here is a DATE and a DUTY, not a broken machine. OUT OF SCOPE — do not grow questions about any of this: welder qualification, welder tickets, competency or practical weld tests (that is the welding-courses territory); WPS or weld procedure conformance, PQR, WPQR, continuity logs; material traceability, heat lots or material certificates; NDT, radiography, bend testing or weld defect interpretation; weld quality, bead profile, preheat, interpass, fit-up; nonconformance handling, shutdown/turnaround/pipeline tie-in QA; choosing a third-party weld inspection firm. WeldCo does NOT inspect welds or assess welders — it inspects and certifies the EQUIPMENT and the GAS system. Also out of scope: routine consumable wear and DIY torch upkeep, which belong to the equipment-maintenance territory.
